I thought about this a lot actually. Originally I was going to dissolve the glow in the dark paint into the smoke fluid so it would glow in the UV.

The thing is once you have a smoke unit, there's a fluid tank that needs to be filled, a smokestack that needs to be cleaned, and heaters that need to be changed occasionally.  I just wanted it to be low maintenance... we already have enough high-maintenance things in our club (like the trains!) that take a lot of time every week.

Right now the 10 year maintenance plan for this is maybe changing a flashbulb or two.
