Might make a good looking O gauge model.

Thanks for the link. I remember watching and listening to these units paired up with TM slugs working heavy cuts of hoppers at Lambert's Point in the early 80s. C&NW was also running high nose six motor Centuries on ore trains at the time. They put on quite a show.

Hi Bob,
I've always liked the big, long six axle Century's: the 628's and the various cab versions 630's; but, I don't recall ever seeing a high short hood version, like NW 1137. A REAL MAN's Locomotive - if there ever was one.
Rick
The Alco Centuries are my all time favorite Nobody has done the high short hood Weaver and MTh made the low hood 628/630. The C636 has to be on my wish list
Hi Ben,
I've got a Railking C628; in the old burgundy Lehigh paint scheme, patched over to Conrail; and I've, also, got an Atlas O Canadian Pacific C630; I really like both of them.
I'm surprised MTH hasn't made a Premier Century model; including, the 636 you mentioned. This high short hood really compliments an already great looking locomotive.
MTH, there's a number of popular prototype Century's to model; if you're looking for a new locomotive, to add to your Premier line.
Cool sounding prime movers, too.
Rick
Yup, those high tops are cool machines.
Thanks, Bob.

Hi, Rick.
Glad you liked the clip. Here's film of CNW high nose C628s:

Nice herd of tall 628's there, Bob. Never heard a horn quite like that, before.
Again, thanks lad. Good find.

Hi, Rick.
While attending college, I was with Conrail during its first several years when six motor Century units inherited from the predecessor roads were still on the active roster. One of my mentors, a former Pennsy Engineer, gave me an education on them one evening. Well maintained, he said they could pull with the best of them; otherwise, their performance left something to be desired. (Do keep in mind the second part of that statement has been edited just a bit for a family environment!) During this period, among the many units CR leased from CN were MLW six axles. Well maintained, they were indeed good power and even drew prime assignments such as TV trains.
I'd certainly be interested in models of high nose Centuries. I'm not sure if Atlas designed its tooling to allow for production of the high nose variants. I have several of Atlas' N scale six axle units, all low nose, so the capability to build high nose units with the existing tooling may not be possible. As you alluded to, perhaps MTH will release newly tooled Premier versions of the various six motor units at some point.
Happy Thanksgiving,
Bob
Happy Thanksgiving, Bob.
MTH, in the past, has been willing to make high and low short hood versions'; my Premier SD45's are good examples: low hood Great Northern and high top Southern. Both, very, very nice models of EMD's SD45.
BTW, being a Canadian, I like MLW's contributions, re: the Century line. They built some nice looking wide cab versions, too.
Cheers,
Rick
