Anyone have a color photo of a new RS-11 black with lighting stripes? I want to know if the trucks where black or silver when built.
Thank you

Thank you Rusty
The new RS11 that I have, has black trucks, however the detail doesn't show up like it does on the silver trucks of my U25. Do you know of a way to bring the detail out?

Since the side frames are removable to make it easy. Would it be better to weather with chalk dust or paint? I never did weathering before. While I have them off I will try bring them in some.
Assume you know that NYC U25's did not have silver trucks either...they were black.
I did not know that~ My U25 is a union pacific.
Why did the NYC refuse the RS-11's?
Why did the NYC refuse the RS-11's?
Didn't have the funding.

a simple way is to spray the trucks with Testors Dullcoat in a spray can you can mask off the rest of the engine if you like. the Dullcoat will make the truck detail stand out without doing the whole weathering thing...conrail john

I guess I could try that before weathering, the side frames are easy to remove, couple of screws.

Lackamoney!
There's a color picture of one of the RS-11 units mentioned earlier, the ones the railroad was going to buy/lease in 1960 but didn't actually accept, in the book "Diesel Locomotives of the New York Central System". It shows the engine in lightning stripes, with black trucks.
Thanks Stix
