Has anyone done a New York Central E7 in the early color scheme with light gray body and dark lightning stipe. I am aware of the MTH E6 done that way but have not found any E7s.

3rd Rail - about five years ago.

Thank you. I was wondering if they did but haven't come across any pictures yet either on the web or their site.

I may be wrong here, but is not the Grey passenger and the "black" freight.?

That may be true if you mean all black but both lightning stripe versions were used in passenger service. The 1938-'47 20th Century cars were light gray and dark stripe. See pic above. In 1948 the colors were reversed.

Thanks for posting, you beat me to it lol... Those are mine in the video. They are absolutely stunning engines and near impossible to find. I got the last new old stock A unit that Scott had about a year and a half ago.

Yes - and the NYC had no E6's. What a waste of a good model.
Wbb E7's? A flawed model, but presentable. I'd consider a pair (one would do - wanna go halves?) if they offered it, in the Light/Dark scheme (the steam scheme, if you will).

Two of the original NYC E7s, 4002 and 4003, were painted all black and had the slotted pilot. Very interesting variations.
The 3rd Rail one did turn out well. We had some excellent help on that one. Released in early 2012 as part of the 2nd run of E7s. Who knows, possibly a candidate for a rerun someday with all the latest features that make the E8s such wonderful runners?
Jonathan, put me down for a set if they do a rerun. I was only starting my NYC mode when these were released.
I would also do a Bachman set if done in this color scheme. Heck would paint my own if I could find the decals. Just about everyone has done E7s I think.

I can't speak for Scott obviously, but I'd certainly enjoy a rerun of this locomotive. There are a few road names I wouldn't mid adding to the roster.
If you paint your own, I'd look for Champ decals if you can find them or possibly Microscale. It's been a while, but I believe the font size is the same as the 1948 version. Tru-color would be my choice of paints these days. They are the same colors as Pullman two tone gray. Stripes are aluminum.
