This pair of swiithes turned up in alot of tinplate stuff that I bought recently.  They're rather strange, and I hope someone can tell me what they are.

The switches are two sided.  On one side, they are right hand switches.  turn them over and they are left hand.  You can see that in the photosDSCF0170DSCF0172

These switches will conenct with O-27 track.  They have a 22.5 degree angle, which means 16 sections per circle.  Given the 8.75" chord length, they would make a 45" diameter (center rails) circle.

Anyone recognize rhem ?

Those turnouts are made by Sakai, a Japanese company. There was an article some years ago in one of the train magazines about these rather clever Sakai turnouts.

The company also made other train products. Here's an article written by Dave Farquhar about the product line:

I thought so.  I recall reading about these switches, made in Japan, some time ago.  I find incredible, the amount of products produced over the years, that we never heard of.
