Just wondering if anybody knows of a lionel dealer that might have the 084 tubular track with the extra ties on the shelf ready for sale I need one full circle I would prefer not to go with the menards track, if possible.

Think you might be looking for something that doesn't exist.
Lionel makes FasTrack in O84, but I am 99.99% sure they never made tubular in that diameter.

You're probably right Dave I couldn't remember if they made an 084 or an 087 or something else
Joe Gozzo
K-Line used to make some wider diameters that was a close match for the look of Lionel tubular.
The closest to what you want that was made was O81, I believe, but I would guess you are not likely to find it easily. They also did O96 and O120, but those are much larger than what you asked for.

Thanks Dave!!
Menards stocks and sells O-96 tubular track that exactly matches the Lionel style. The next smaller size is O-72.
Joe,
If you absolutely must have the 084 size curves the Lionel FT 084 Track works very well, and you can transition in and out of the FT with the special made transition pieces, I did it for years with my old 711 Switches, right beside the 084 curves. Not a cheap way to engineer however. It does look strange, however the trains run smooth as glass, engineered in this manner.

Another thought is to get the Standard Gauge track from USA in 84 or 87". Take the S.G. cross ties off. Replace them with O gauge ties. Or...Make the loop 5 rail and run whatever you want. S.G or O. I thought at one time you could purchase just the rails from USA also.
I think Dave was correct above in pointing out O-81
PCRR/DAVE Thanks, I have a ton of fastrack that I use for our holiday display for the perminent layout. I prefer the tubular and will not be running any switches it will just be loops.
Dan, I like your 2 suggestions and I may go with the one where buy the track from USA and make my own 84's.
Steve Eastman, If I remember right I believe you made the 5 rail standard gauge track but I don't remember what you used to make it Still not sure if I would want one loop or the 2 separate loops.

Hi Joe,
Steve made the 5rail track to run at our club events. Kirk at USA has the parts. Several of us bought the suppiles to make 5 rail modules ( I have not finished yet). It is not hard to make. Steve can walk you through it. We built a bunch of track at his house last year. I'm in the same boat as far as planning my tinplate layout. Good luck and I enjoy your posts,
Bob
CP Bob,
Thanks for the tips I hope to post progress pictures on here when I get started with everything in would love to see your layout as a progresses as well. Thanks for the kind words.

I use the K line 0-81 with 0-72 and 0:96. It works very well. It was only made one year, but just asking around and watching E-bay I was able to find several circles in the last few years.

Joe, here is the video I made on assembling the 5 rail track. I bought the pieces from Kirk. If you decide to make your own, I'll loan you my crimping tool.
Steve
FWIW, I believe Ross makes 0-84.
You can run that between 0-72 and 0-96 and have some nice "clearance".

Steve, Thanks for the video and your generous offer. I may take you up on it? I am going to do the 2 separate loops. Inside loop is STD72 and outer o-gauge loop in O-84 made from Kirk's STD84 rails.
I just need to find some new o-gauge ties for crimping. Did they ever sell these separately?
