Has anyone used the rubber ballast?  (Brummy's Landscape Express)   If so, what are your thoughts?  Thanks.

Most of the layout is that product, mixed-in with a bit of real granite from the first (1995) layout (far  too bright/white and big, for my tastes, as they have matured) , and I am not wild about any of it, frankly (see attached photos.) I think it appears far too large in the size of its individual pieces when I compare it to real-life track as seen in several of the above pictures, for example. If I could magically suck-up the entire ballasting of the entire layout , I would do so (not going to happen) and replace it - still using some kind of magic - with Dennis Brennen's ballast, which I consider realistic in its proportions, coloration and texture; in fact, I use all his ground covers, nowadays, to co-ordinate with what I use 4aIMG_0010xIMG_8645_edited-1aIMG_8791z

from Jim Elster's Scenic Express products, both for re-crafting and renovations in Moon Township as well as for Layout Refinements projects and layouts.
