And it's modular / portable.
Here's a story I found: https://www.keymodelworld.com/...eaton-lodge-junction

Requires a magazine subscription?
Now that's when you can get 40-60+ cars in a consist and not chase your tail.

I dabbled in British HO for a while; it was fascinating learning how different railroads in the UK were/are compared to here in the States.

Not sure. It let me in, and I didn't pay. A subscription panel popped up, but hitting esc got rid of it.

Exactly why some of us in Britain find US Railroads so interesting, too. Especially Short Lines!!

This is what I get.

Hmmm... I know that I do not subscribe to any of those things. I found the link by searching for 'Heaton Lodge Junction layout' - it was the first link listed. Maybe you can get in via that method rather than following the link that I posted?
And there are tons of interesting British model railway links - it's a rabbit hole from which you might never emerge.
A very fine O scale layout, for sure! Also gratified to see that Ken, the layout builder is a pipe smoker, like myself. He and I would get along famously!

I’ve never smoked a day in my life but watching him operate his trains while puffing on a pipe makes me want to take up that hobby as well!

Well, I sure don't want to come across as recommending that anyone smoke a pipe or anything else, but it's my one vice and it is relaxing to me. Wendy does not permit my smoking indoors, but that is 100% fine with me. When I have my outdoor G gauge layout (a tiny one) up and running later this spring, I'll be able to puff away while relaxing in a comfortable chair on our patio; having some snacks an an adult beverage close at hand; and watching the train (battery operated) circle through our small garden. We purchased a fountain for the garden yesterday, so that will further enhance the pleasant environment.

I didn’t look at it that way, mostly tongue in cheek. That said, “everything in moderation” is usually a good thing to practice to avoid the more severe consequences of our vices. Except trains of course!
When I was just a youngin’ out of college at my first job, my boss smoked a pipe, and was fond of a flavored tobacco called cherry cavendish. The inside of his car smelled wonderful, haha. 🙂
