Lionel made what is commonly referred to as '072' curved track (w/ 6 cross-ties) catalogued as No. 760. Did Lionel make a 14" straight section (also with 6 cross-ties) and if so what was the part number? I bought some of this straight track in the 80's, but do not recall if it was stamped Lionel, K-Line, or something else.

I'd put my two cents on K-Line only because they offered 36" with those ties. John
Edit: I stand corrected by Tracker John. Forty inches it is. I last used it when I laid track about twenty years ago and missed it by 10%. JRM
Lionel made it to match the geometry of the O72 switches and K-line made it because it was hard to find the original Lionel. It is referred to as O72 straight. There are several threads on this track from past years. I have both on my layout.
The long K-Line straights are 40".

The O72 curves were #760 only when boxed in sets of 16. The individual curve sections were cataloged as "761", the straights you are asking about were cataloged as "762".
K-Line cataloged the straights as K-342 or K-0342.

This answers all my questions! I wondered why I saw the '072' curved track listed as either #760 or #761.
Would you happen to know the approximate timeline that these products (Lionel and K-Line) were available?
I used the K-Line 40" straights and Lionel 0-72 curves on my first room size layout in 1994. I know the curves were available way before then. John

I'm going from memory, the 760/761/762 were 1938-1942, the 760 was cataloged again about 1950.
The K-Line would need a little research, it looks like they were last cataloged in 2004.
The K-Line K-0352 Extra Long Straight (40") looks interesting too! How difficult/expensive is it to obtain any of this old tubular track (Lionel or K-Line)?
Currently using (affordable) Gargraves phantom line, but this old vintage stuff offers a nostalgic look to a Christmas layout. Plus it may need rejuvenation!

The long straights were made in 40" & 36" by both Lionel & K-Line in the full "O" track profile, I have all types. You need to keep your eyes open at train shows and set up eBay search notifications, they will show up.
I have about 14 sections of Lionel 40" tubular track , new condition available for sale $10. each plus shipping. These tracks have 12 ties per section which matches 4 - 10" straight track. you can get my email in my profile

I prefer the '072' styling of straight sections (be they 14.5", 36" or 40").

Robbie, I sent you an email about some Kline track I have.
