Could be MG or US Hobbies. There were a couple of runs of these, and they had different diameter drivers, one was correctly sized and one was undersized, but I don't remember which was which...

Arn,
Do you have a Spotters Guide? If you do there are a couple of photos. Your title says KMT, is that correct? As far as I know the MG/USH were built by KTM. International brought one in and it might be KMT.

I might someday add one of these. Like Arn I am mostly SP, but since I have had one in HO for 70 years why not? Problem is, I am not enough of a B&O guy to know which one is best - apparently done by MG, USH, IMP, ROW, MTH, and who knows who else.
I think Sunset did a run also.
Could be wrong....nothing new for me.

This thread needs a good photo of said locomotive.

I dunno. I heard Arn has an aversion to photos. Probably just a nasty rumor.

I mispoke. It is KTM. My friend John Ford says it is Max Gray. Arn
The KTM model is by far the best of the various others. Only problem with the KTM model is the driver size. They are way too small. 97 & 98 had 46" drivers. Some years ago I traded something to a fellow for a KTM B&O 0-4-0 tender engine. It has the proper drivers and they are now on my KTM dockside thanks to John Ford.

I have machined new drivers for the KTM B&O Dockside locos using PSC 48" driver castings with correctly shaped counterweights soldered over the PSC counterweights. This was done for a friend who is a B&O modeler.
I believe the error in the driver size stemmed from an incorrect driver dimension published in a Model Railroader plan many years ago.
The B&O 0-4-0 with the tender has the correct sized drivers. I have both models and have not modified the drivers on my own dockside as yet.

I really have no dog in this but wasn't the fireman's side and the air pump done completely wrong on the KTM model? If memory serves, the little cheapo from International was actually more accurate.

Jay: based on photos I have, I would say no. What do you think was wrong? Arn
You know Arn, I'm not really sure. I remember, years ago, some B&O modelers picking apart the KTM version. Something about the configuration or shape of the cab surrounding the undersized air pump. Didn't bother me because I had no interest in the model. Not even sure why I mentioned it. Could be total BS. Seemed like the incorrect driver size was a much more flagrant issue and you've dealt with that already.
I do remember re-powering and installing new NWSL gearboxes in three David Danks models but they were Sunset's version. I thought he told me they were more correct also. Having dredged that up, it may have been a driver issue with him also.
After drinking my second cup of coffee none of this seems all that important anymore.
By the way, I'm going to the storage unit to look for B&O decals. John said to look for them. Wonder why?
Have fun,
Jay

Also if I recall, one (some) of the models was missing the distinctive angled cutout on the engineer's side for the reverse gear, wasn't it?
Love these little things. One could do an entire bedroom layout of the Fells Point operation.
Well, I would love to have a smooth slow running Dockside 0-4-0-t for my waterfront switching layout. The old KTM's run like coffee grinders with NO flywheels----the locos are off balance. The Sunsets run smoothly--but run 200 mph, are sparse of detail, and have a frumpy springing system.
ROW and MTH are 3 rail runners, and MTH is REALLY stripped of detail.
I cannot understand why such a simple engine is so rare in 'O' Scale---AND expensive. The dockside 0-4-0-t was a cheap entry level loco in HO. Why can't we have one in 'O' Scale?
Anybody have a reworked repowered smooth and slow dockside for sale in 2 rail? -Salty Rails-
