I had a '76 Pacer, it was a great little car. It was fun to drive and visibility was terrific, you could almost see the rear bumper from the drivers seat and It had an unbreakable seven main bearing smooth as silk inline six. it was the first new car I purchased without a V8 and the last without air conditioning. I only bought one more new V8 car after that.

I was out running an errand yesterday, and I hadn't seen an Aztec in some time, and

I was startled to see a bright, yellow, new looking one on the road.  Back in the day

when I was helping an old girlfriend shop for a car, and dealers were trying to stick

her with a Chevette, we looked at the AMC Spirit, too, and it was the much better deal.  She bought a six cylinder Camaro (the reason she needed a car was that her

Gremlin died, so she was done with AMC)  Later when the first gear retainer went out of my '77 Olds and there was nothing, I bought a new Spirit, which had a hatchback,

a four cylinder, AND a twenty-one gallon gas tank.  It was also cheaper than a Camaro, from a company that I'd had recent lemon experience from.  By nailing it back together several times I managed to make it roll into six digits.  I still miss the gas tank.
