How about sending one of those shows, as a matter of fact, any show! To West Australia!
OK a video, a photo, a kind word?
Roo.
Dear Dave and other Committee members,
I am looking forward to the SONC next year and I think it will rival our past other Mid Atlantic SONC.
A special shout out to all the 2018 SONC committee members for a job well done in getting out the word!!
More information will be available at the 10/14/17 Strasburg show.
Neville, always a kind word to you and I will take photos of the October Strasburg meet.
Regards, John P.Dunn Sr. Scale2Rail Promotions
Thanks John look forward to them.
You could always hand deliver them and run a train at the same time!
Already have hotel reservations. Looking forward to some sight-seeing as well. One more visit to the Wall.
Dick
I am going to do my best to make it to this convention. Have never been to an O Scale National, but since I am interested in presenting O gauge, O scale, and O scale narrow gauge in the magazine, this is something I definitely should see.
Thank you Dave for doing the Convention. Few of us this way are talking about doing one in Denver.
Thanks all for the good words. Glad to see some already planning to spend part of 2018 with us, Thank you John, Dick, and Allen.
It's definitely not just me; we have a very devoted team over here that's going to make this happen, and try to keep it fresh and interesting. Anyone that was ever interested in 2R O Scale, Traction, on30, this will be as good a time as any to learn about it in person.
Neville - We are definitely trying to infuse some technology into this convention. We will try our best to get out photos, videos, etc. of the convention. I would volunteer myself, but have other duties that may distract me from photo taking. Maybe I can convince the guys to set up a Facebook or Periscope live-stream for a portion of it. No promises though, lol.
Erik - I'm not sure if anyone has claimed the reigns for 2019, but I could use an excuse to go to Colorado for the first time outside the Denver airport.
I'de vote for Denver in 2019.
Dick
Denver would be great. Centrally located in the USA. Vacation destination. Good airline connections. Recently hosted a totally successful all scales national Narrow Gauge convention. etc. etc. Here's hoping.
This is great!
Just a heads up that the convention is currently giving away a Weaver B&O Timesaver Boxcar.
Details on how to enter are on the website:
It's been a minute since I informed you guys about some convention details. Here's the latest:
Registration is open on the website. Everything can be done electronically. We accept snail mail too.
Convention Cars have been put on the website. One car is a Canandaigua Southern X-29 Boxcar, which commemorates John Armstrong's historic railroad. The second is the Fruit Grower's Express 40' Steel Reefer. FGE was owned by several railroads. These are being made by AtlasO.
The January Newsletter has been emailed out to the convention mailing list and is also on the website. The older newsletters are on the website too.
The convention is also giving away a second boxcar. All you need to do is sign up for our mailing list. Bob Sewall of Arizona won the first car.
The convention is also giving away an Atlas reefer sometime in March/April to those who have already registered for the convention. Stay tuned for information on that.
How much is admission at the door?
Maybe free to anyone under 25 would be a good thing.

$40 at the door. The second idea is an interesting one, but we do let in children/young adults under the age of 16 free with adult admission. Appreciate the question!
I am being brave. Taking Amtrak out of Omaha at 5:15 AM. Chicago by 2ish, 5 hrs in Chicago, then a sleeper to DC. Haven't been on a train since 2012 in Chile.
Dick
Hey Dave, appreciate you pushing the convention.

Wow Dick you got the gears turning. I have never been to the wall and I could see some family and friends. Hmmmmmmm
Al,
I have several friends on the Wall. I'll be 70 by that time so who knows. I was there in 1968-69. In so far as the convention, I am happy to be going for the 50th. The first time you see the Wall, it will take your breath away.

A note to Dick: You may already have this information, but if not, you can detrain from the Capitol Limited at the Rockville station. It is only a 5 minute cab ride from the station to the hotel.
Wes
Wes, Thanks for the info. Can't wait.
Dick
Wow, I forgot Wes posted on this. To all who did not know, Wes Morgenstern unexpectedly passed away on February 26. An extremely talented, generous, and friendly O-scaler, who was a Western Maryland expert. He will be extremely missed by his friends, family, and the Washington DC Area O Scale Model Railroaders.
