The DFW Trinity Railway Express project is completed.  Started with an O Scale VRE F59PHI and 21" Bombardier cars.  Took the shells off and removed all windows.  Sent the Shells to Christine Braden for Stripping and Painting. I purchased an HO scale set for her to use as a reference which  I included it in one of the finished PICS for reference.

While re-assembling I had an accident with the glue and windows.  So I am looking for any ideas or replacements for the Bombardier Windows.  I ruined about 6 windows.

Thanks to everyone who gave me great advice during the project.

Feel free to email any questions and comments  about the project.

Here are some PICS of the project. I am by no means a photographer, so I apologize for the quality.

Great stuff!  I have been interested in tackling this project for about two years, but I am not started yet.  I used to live in Fort Worth and would ride these sometimes.

The only thing that baffled me is how do you paint the streamer behind the star on the engine?  I only paint with rattle cans, so I have to assume that's a special airbrush technique.

Congratulations on a great and unique o-scale model.

Ditto.  Great stuff.

As for windows glue --- check out Microscale Industries "Micro Kristal Klear" adhesive.  I have used it for numerous projects and it is very forgiving and dries very close to crystal clear.  Even on headlight lenses and other small hard to glue clear plastic items.

In the plastic bottle it looks milky white.  First time I used it I thought this ain't gonna work.  No way.  But it drys clear and seems to disappear.

You have to really "fat finger" it to screw it up.  But, then to help with this I use "Microbrush" --- well -- microbrushes "for precise application of adhesives, paints and solvents."  I buy a large amount of these and use them for all sorts of things.

Probably the main thing I have learned about adhesives is to use the absolutely smallest amount to do the job.  I find the microbrushes to be indispensable for this.

Hope this helps.  Good luck with an already awesome project.
