A very good magazine in content and it is loaded with great layouts.
However mother nation flooded Mr. Hart's layout and a lot of work will be required to restore his layout back to the beautiful stage it was.

So can you hold off the December/Christmas issue until Late October/November, so its feels at least like Christmas season?
(Sad enough Costco already has Christmas items up)
Hmmm...you put me in a tough spot Chris!
If I publish it too early, folks will complain about us being "too early" for Christmas. And if I wait until the print magazine gets mailed, then I'll get complaints from our Premium Members about being late with the issue!
I'll see if I can find a happy medium in there somewhere.
Rich, if you were able to find a medium that made everyone happy...
...then some knucklehead would complain because everyone is happy!
It's always gonna be a lose/lose proposition
I understand rich, just trying to ease into Christmas this year . Seemed by 1 December last year I was already thinking about 2013
Rich,Thanks for a great magazine, always enjoy reading it.
As to your "tough spot," just hold onto Chris's copy and mail it to him after Thanksgiving. Better yet, Chris could take it from his mailbox and put it away till he feels Christmas-like.

Al, the layout is still good. Yes he had about 4" of water in the basement where his layout is, but the layout was not damaged like he thought it might be. If any of you are in the Springfield, MO area and want to see this SUPER LAYOUT, contact Vernon Hart and he will be more than happy to show you this fine layout.
On another note, he had pair of Legacy F-3s that was on the basement floor, the ones that are on the front cover of this issue, they were completely submerged in water and they survived. We dried them out checked to make sure everything worked, and then sent them to OHIO for the Service guys to run their tests on. We are happy to confirm that these little babies run as good as new. We did have to replace the wicking in the smoke unit, but that was about all we did to these locomotives.
I want to thank the staff at OGR for having Vernon's layout in this month's issue.

And I want to thank Vernon for his considerable patience as he worked with me and Rich to come up with that cover composition. It's sometime difficult for authors to visualize what I'm looking for in terms of cover compositions that will work with the various other elements placed on our cover, but Vernon stuck with it and I believe the end result was well worth the effort.
Thanks to you, too, Roger, for hand delivering the poster-size cover blowup to Vernon. I hope it makes a fine addition to his train room.
Allan, he has it framed and hanging there in the basement. I had fun giving this poster/photo to him. Thanks for everything you do for all of us.
I would like to add my congrats to Vernon for the publishing of his layout. It is a first class effort and looks even better in person. Months ago when Vernon was thinking about having his layout in one of the magazines, I encouraged him to consider OGR first as his layout most reflects the focus of our readership. I contacted Allan to tell him about Vernon's work and Allan immediately expressed interest. A quick call and email to Vernon and the rest is now history. Allan wasted no time, and either did Vernon, in providing all of us another wonderful article full of great copy and pictures!
Thanks guys!
Alan
