Hello Everyone,

Just finished this fabulous looking project, I kit bashed Bills place, Granato's Grocery , and the Burke Building into a row of set back and forward buildings. This entire kit bash was hand painted free hand and each kit was cut up into various sizes to create this row of stores. Here's some of the details and materials used, there's a total of 17 interior and exterior lights, The bottom base is made with 1/4 inch square stock. The roof is 1/8 inch Masonite painted flat black with fine black cinders added, various Acrylic paints were used to get the look i was going for. All fronts and sides had brick mortar added to them, weathering powders weren't used in this project.

THE OVERALL FOOTPRINT 18 1/4 WIDE X 8 DEEP X 10 HIGH

Thanks for looking, enjoy

Alex

Good looking!  I'm quite interested and studied your photos - thank you for so many.  While I've made a couple of bashed buildings with Ameritown, including a six story two-wide, I've got a bigger project coming up: fifteen feet of building fronts from two to six to stories high soon, that can be no deeper than 1/2 inch.    I'm particularly interesting in how you did the lighting - in my buildings I used one big LED light to do the whole building -- good but it requires depth to work -- but how you've done yours  looks like it would be very shallow and fit within my constraint.

Hi Lee,

That's all i did was glue single incandescent 16 volt lights right to the back inner face of the building. Then I pull the blub slightly off the face so it doesn't burn through. This is done with

less than a 1/4 inch of space, and it looks like there's lights on in certain rooms, not just one bright light.

Alex

Looks very nice! I like the Ameri-Towne building too, they are nice, but yours really look nice. I also have a few of their smaller buildings, but unfortunately mine don't look quite like yours.

Kind of along the question Lee had, what did you put behind the windows to fasten the lights to? I guess you didn't use the kits windows or included window dressings?

I glued the lights with a small dab of hot glue, on the wire not the blub

Thanks,

Alex

That looks GREAT, Alex - excellent work!

I wish I had thought of doing mine along those lines, as you did. Instead, I just assembled several of the Ameritowne building kits and cut them in half; well, closer to 1/3's and 2/3's. I used LED reel lights, cut into 3- and 6-LED segments, for the interior lighting. They look OK, but not as good as yours:

One thing for sure, the Amritowne kits are great for kitbashing.

Thank you for sharing your nice work!

Alex (and Lee, and others),

I LOVE your work!  They look great!  Send me finished pictures of the building(s), and I'll see if we can't get your beautiful results in the magazine.  All are great kit bashing ideas.

Ingeniero #1, cutting the sides into either a 2/3rds or 1/3rd depth is a great idea for getting just a little depth in the layout without using the full depth of the kits.
