Ed Boyle's S-Gauge Presentation in Norfolk

On Saturday July 28,2012 at 10:15-11:15 AM, Ed Boyle, LCCA member, O-Gauge Railroading (OGR) Partner and columnist of OGR's Collector's Gallery will be making a S-Gauge Presentation at the Marriott Waterside Hotel in Norfolk VA during the Lionel Collectors Club Of America's 42 Annual Convention. Ed has promised a comprehensive and concise look at 1:64 scale trains and why our two rail S-Gauge brethren should become more important to us at the LCCA. As Ed points out, many S Gaugers are Lionel collectors too, and we need to welcome more of them into the ranks of the LCCA. LCCA is S friendly, and having S-Gauge hobbyist play a more prominent role in our activities will enrich the toy train hobby experience for all of us. We hope LCCA members and members of the OGR Forum will attend and support Ed Boyle. This presentation should be very informative and entertaining. We hope to see you there!

Al,

Looking forward to making the presentation.  This is an opportunity for members to take a glimpse at 34 years of collecting opportunities Lionel/ AF production has provided.

The surprise for many is that Lionel/AF exists at all, and that many members already have AF inspired accessories on their shelves or layouts.

I hope it will be a whole new and enjoyable world for many 3-railers to explore..even though S Gauge and S Scale trains only run on 2 rails!

Jonny,  I don't know if we can record and post this on our website in its entirety.  We are having discussions to see how we can best cover this presentation.  Thanks again for joining the LCCA.

Al and Folks,

Rich Melvin and I just finished the S Gauge video for the the presentation at the LCCA Convention  It is complete with titles and even a little music, plus my "wonderful"voice doing the narration. Now all we need is someone to record the Q&A during the session.  Do we have any volunteers?

We will supply the LCCA with a copy of the video for the Club website after the convention session, and we will also make the video available on our own OGR website to increase exposure to the S gauge collecting and operating message among hobbyists.

Looking forward to Norfolk!

Ed,

That is great news!  Thank you for conducting this presentation for our LCCA members to. Enjoy. I am looking forward to it.   I don't think I will be able to video tape it though.  We have a lot of activities going on Saturday morning.  We are expecting over 250 boy and Girlscouts to be earning their railroading merit badges that morning.

I look forward to seeing you in Nrfolk.

Ed,

Have you received any volunteers yet to video tape your presentation?    How many of you fellow OGR forums members are planning to attend this seminar?  We welcome you and I look forward to seeing you there.

Thanks Al. I wish I could make the convention. I'm looking forward to getting my 5 year old son involved too. He is a bigger train nut than his old man believe it or not.

Johnny & son,

Welcome to the club!  We are family oriented club.  I have been bringing my two sons to LCCA conventions since my oldest son was two years old, and my youngest son was 3 months  old.   Now they help out and volunteer at the conventions.  I am grateful to the LCCA for providing my children with life long, happy memories, friends and experiences they will remember for the rest of their lives.  We have seen so many beautiful parts of this country because we made our summer family vacations around the LCCA conventions.

I invite your son to participate in our Junior member activities.   We are looking chin families such as yours.  We have a "Lion Cub" publication dedicated to our Junior members and their interests.  We try to have something  of interests for our younger members in each issue of our club publication, The Lion RoarS (TLR).  I invite your son to write an article about his experience with your and his trains.  TLR Mike Mottler is willing to assist and support his efforts.   I think kids get a real kick out of it when they show their published article to their friends and teachers at school.

We have family oriented LCCA Special Events scheduled in various cities all around the country.  What area do you live in?  We will be launching our Lionel Fastrack Modular layout at this convention.  Stayed tuned for future announcements about where it will be set up and operational in the next year.  We are in discussions about possibly planning more future Junior Member activities and events.

Any questions, please call me at 248 709-4137
