Alan, what are you using for the berms around the tank facility? Is that plywood cut at an angle?

I am using pine strips. They are cut with 45 degree angles on them. I spray them gray and will cover them with stone.

Wow, those are sharp!

A small detail suggestion overlooked by many. Alarm sirens. The ones by my place have "air raid" type sirens on tall metal poles, to alert to local population to any dangerous "spills".

Here are some pictures of the gasoline and fuel oil tanks in various stages of construction. The gasoline tank will have a floating roof installed in it.

Are you scratch building the tanks themselves or using plastruct tanks Alan?

I came up with all the Plastruct Tank kits back in the 90's. I designed them and wrote the instructions. The two latest tanks were constructed from flat sheets of ABS. They were constructed just like a real tank is made. The two small Kerosene tanks were constructed using an ABS tube  ( 4 inches in diameter) for the shell and flat sheets for the bottom and the cone roof.

The roof does not operate. I build static models. I constructed a natural gas holder for one of my customers and he added a motor so the shell and roof went up and down.

Your idea on high level alarms is good. In this case, I did not put any alarm nozzles on the tank roofs.

Thanks Alan, that explains why my Plastruct tank kits I just bought, look very similiar to what you are building and construction methods. Excellent work! 

 Someday (soon), I hope to get some G scale and O scale tanks from you! Very nice.

Here are some pictures of the completed tanks. I will install lights on them and glue them to the base before I apply stone cover to the dike area.
