I'm not sure how well CA adhesive works on invisible items.

Use the invisible type crazy glue of course!

They kind of look like something you'd see in an electrical substation.

I would like to suggest something in the field of rockets, rocket engines, or some kind of nuclear waste transport/containment thing. Although the Buoy idea someone else mentioned is really good too!

You could also use one as the top of a giant glue bottle sign, perhaps for a glue factory?

If you cut off the smaller top parts, using the bottom half only, you could make rooftop air conditioners. Just cut the fins off and some grooves into them, then paint grey.

Gondola loads.

Assuming that ruler is inches, and the item is about 1" wide and assumedly 1" tall, that would make it a large item.  My initial thought was they could be components found in a large electrical substation.  Add some wire nuts to the mix and maybe some tubing and spool of wire and make it a flat car load.

First thing that went through my mind was buoy like John A said.

Put a small eye hook through the top, a cotter pin may work, glue a magnet in the bottom opening and turn a gantry crane into a magnetic crane or add it to construction crane to use in the junk yard.

There's always the gondola junk load.

I fashioned some old school road cones from caps off of caulking tubes and a piece of styrene.

When I was a kid I used the red Gleem toothpaste caps. Drove my Mom crazy to save them.
