What about a Legacy "J" . It must be a least the same quality as the Legacy Berks. Any number would do and set of coaches would follow the next year..........

Can't go wrong with a J. It's a classic!
Joe is RIGHT!!
Sign me up for a Legacy J.
In the interim I am kit bashing a clone, it needs lots of "body work", but I have at least started the project. I started with an 8 Wheel chassis added a can motor, and a Dallee reverse unit. The front of the Locomotive shell is a Silver Bullet married to a 283 cab section. The tender is a Hudson with the rivets and detail ground off the sides. As stated lots of body work left to do. Pay no attention to the station in the background, that is for my G gauge outdoor train loop.

You'll also need to go directly to minimum 54" curves and a large layout.
(BTW, nothing new about asking for a semi-scale J - a number of us in previous threads going back awhile have been asking for a LionMaster or at least a Lionchief Plus N&W J. Obviously, Lionel has yet to deliver.)

Rusty, perhaps you meant 'Do not pass Go, Pay bank $900.00'.

You could buy a RailKing "J" and put a cruise Commander in it.
You could do the same with a Williams diecast traditional sized "J" but the Williams has a less robust drive train.
This post has devolved just the way all the speculative posts do. Just sayin
1/64th scale locomotives would be Semi-Scale on O gauge tracks.
1/87th scale locomotives would be Semi-Scale on S gauge tracks.

The RailKing J isn't S scale. Not even close.
For comparison purposes, here's an S Scale Berk vs a RailKing Berk:

This thread is in the S Scale Trains Forum.
Every locomotive Lionel has made for American Flyer will negotiate R20 (20" radius) and is very likely to do so in the future.

Scrolling past futile S scale speculation, again 😋

Sorry. I did not notice that this was a S scale discussion. My bad.
