Good afternoon everyone,

My dad's good friend brought these to my house this morning, that's all we know is it's most likely from the early 1950's

It's a wind up train set with the track and it's in pretty good condition. There's also some toy trucks and car's and no markings on anything. If any of you know who made these items we would appreciate it. Thanks for looking.

Thanks very much, Alex

the Marx trains are from ~1937/38.  they show the early revised square end frames, but the car bodies are first generation 6" tin litho designs.  what you are showing are fairly common pieces, though they are early.  the clockwork motor looks to be in great shape.  watch running that CV locomotive without cars, though.  fully wound (and unloaded) it will easily jump the O27 curves and unlike electric motors, it's not going to stop until it hits something.

giving these pictures a second look, i find this truck to be perhaps one of the most fascinating.  at first i thought the box was a battery holder, but seeing the clockwork key sticking out, i've got to ask if it is a truly mechanical drive to the truck through the attached cable?

I have that same train - loco, caboose, etc.,  identical -- they came with my Dad's 1934ish wind up Marx set - I'm pretty certain yours are pre-war.  Track looks the same as the pre-war track that came with his trainset, too.  The aircraft carrier is from the late 50s, my brother had one in 1959-60.  It may be Marx but obviously dates from much later than the trains- not just jet planes, but carrier-based, swept wing fighters.  The others, I have not a clue.

The Aircraft Carrier is Japaneese and is, I believe, #2 below. It is in an auction.  I'm having trouble getting just the section with the toy so:

LOT OF 2 TIN TOYS:
Includes 1) FORRESTAL: Yoshiya..O/B..9"L tin FR. Missing the antenna and one plane. Instruction sheet is attached to the inside of the box top. Box has clear tape repairs on the outside of three corner and several other tears. First time I've seen this. G/VG-C8. 2) AIRCRAFT CARRIER AND HELICOPTER: NS (Japan)..O/B..9.5"L tin FR. Helicopter takes off and lands as carrier advances. Small hole on the conning tower-antenna missing?. Box has numerous tears and tear repairs. The box top has a small front panel hole and the box bottom is missing most of one end panel. G-C9………………………
