A friend brought over his first locomotive and we ran it on the tubular loop which it needed. This unit had sliders and not rollers pickups. Of course it had been run a lot so it did not like the flat top Gargraves the last time we wanted to run it. Seems we are both 72 years of age!

Hi, you can easily repair it you could get a copper strip flat stock like ace hardware or similar places and just solder the new copper strip to the old worn one keep it flat as possible and make adjustments with needle nose pliers and it should work just fine, other possibility would be trying to find on old Lionell web site and order the correct ones you need! also, third option go to York TCA meet in April or October show and you'll probably see exactly what you need there!

Any mention of a 2026 perks my interest. It is my entrance into Lionel trains as a Christmas gift from my Dad when I was 5 y/o in 1952. Still runs like a dream with original consist.  Yes, it has slider shoes, but I still have the originals. At times, I pull them out a bit to make better contact with the middle rail.

I did make one conversion - smoke pellets to liquid smoke chamber. Just look how it puffs O rings!!! Also, just love the original whistle sounds from the tender.

Keep it running and it will give you years (decades?) of fun!
