Old Style AF Track Gone for Good?

That was the rumor that I heard. Fastrack is supposed to be the only S track produced going forward. That's just what I heard, but I think it is confirmed by its omission in the catalog.

Check with Lionel before you say that. They have omitted O gauge tubular track from the catalog a few times, but every time they say that they are still making it when asked.

 

Yeah. You should verify, but that's where I heard it.

I hope not I still use the old track, and I have a bunch of original Rubber roadbed

from AF that I use as well.

Well, this is the response I got from Lionel:

LenTo our knowledge we are still producing the tubular track, they haven't told us anything different.Thank you,Talk to Us

The problem is, the old style track isn't on the 'pre-order' buy the LHS got from the distributor. Guess I'll have to wait and see what happens.

For what it's worth, tubular track is still listed in the product finder.

Almost everything manufactured in the last 5 years is in the product finder, whether it's still in production or not. The 'Online Store' is a better indicator of current production item availability and the old style AF track is not listed there.

 

Flyer track was a K-Line product since the MPC years, so with the K-line break up, someone else may have the rights to make it.

It'd be nice to know who, if anyone.

 

 

Talked with Doug Peck at York today and he said no one currently has the rights to make the old style track.  It seems that unless Kader decides to use the old tooling themselves or someone else develops new tools we probably won't see that style of track again.

Bummer! Guess I'll have to start hitting the shows for used track in decent condition to finish my 'S' layout.
