olsentoy.com lists this custom boiler front for lionel 675, 2025, and 2035 locomotives under the part number 675gf-EB. i’ve been looking for info on this part for a while and became tired of coming up dry, so i decided to buy one for myself and do a write up for anyone else who may be looking.
first, some close ups
at first blush, it looks near identical to the original, save for the larger and higher headlight, however it appears to be a new casting, as there a subtle differences all over the part. in a side by side comparison you can likely pick a few out.
as expected, installation is a snap, quite literally. the boiler front is only held in place by a clip, and this is a direct replacement.
the headlight lens picks up light better than i expected given the angle of the hole.
the paint is a decent match, although it has a slightly more matte finish, and it’s made of very similar metal to the original. if you just really want a bigger headlight for some reason, it’s not a bad way to go.
