Lastly...i heard of a blinking headlight issue caused by the 1l anyone care to shed some light on this,,i was told it was a resistor issue..and if so did lionel correct this on later cab 1l. it only affected earlier tmcc which is what i have.......NO MORE QUESTIONS !...i promise,,,conrail john

I never heard of this, can you tell me what the source of this "fact" is? I've never seen it with my CAB1-L/BASE1-L either.
The blinking headlight sounds like you're in the middle of the stall setting, try pushing SET on the remote.

Here's a link to a Lionel troubleshooting doc that references on pg. 7 the "stall" setting that gunrunnerjohn mentioned.
And note that the stall setting can be done on any TMCC or Legacy system, it's a function of the TMCC receiver.

You need to send the BASE1-L in for an upgrade. The older TMCC locos seemed to have a sensitivity to the timing sent to the track from the BASE1-L. We have corrected this in subsequent runs of the product, yours will need the update.
Interesting Jon, this is the first time I'm hearing about this. Is there any way to identify the version of base involved? Serial number range, date code, etc.?
