I've been on online newsgroups and forums since the old AOL days.  Joined the OGR Forum one year ago today and am really glad I did, the talent here is amazing.

I love the way people share pics, videos and ideas. Have a problem or question? Post and answers you will receive. The mods do a great job keeping drama down and us on topic.

Talking with friends and enjoying the OGR forum will be my only connection to toy trains for a while. I tripped over the dog, fell down and went boom. Fractured, broke and dislocated a couple ribs. No stairs down to Warrenville for me.

I can relate! Fell down backwards onto my front porch deck going out front entrance about 3 months ago. Did not hit my head, but fractured my left wrist and bruised my body all over. Wrist is about 80% healed, but still numbness in several fingers! Able to climb stairs to trainroom and come down SLOWLY and CAREFULLY! My wife just had a successful liver transplant and will be home Sunday!

Two years here already!

I feel like I now know a lot of you guys personally and love hearing about your finds, layouts and, especially, projects.

The forum helps keep me enthusiastic about toy trains even when I have not had the opportunity to go downstairs and play, or to shows for the search. Very much like the monthly luncheons I have with 10-13 toy train collecting/operating friends - Thank you all!

Thanks Mark, time sure does fly.

Thanks to you too Bob, the rib injury was noted in was last year's post, finally got better around October, the I got Covid (mild case) in November - the dog in question (15 + years old) passed that November too.

2021 is shaping up to be a much better year!  Mrs. 'Ski and I are healthy, train and car shows are back, vacation's too.

Restaurants (yum!) and family gatherings. Grand kids went back to school full time (Catholic schools). Layout visits with friends once again. Nice to see what everyone accomplished during the lockdown

John,

Happy Anniversary.

Hope you get better and back to Warrenville soon.  It looks like a fun place to be!

Maybe you can have "Christmas in July" and bring up one of those nice prewar train sets?

I currently have all of my trains in storage, so I really enjoy the pics and videos that others have posted or linked, especially when I can see or run my own trains.

@Lionelski, I really enjoy seeing Warrenville, I am glad you are here.

I hope you @Tinplate Art, and @Mark Boyce all feel better soon.   I think you guys need to forego the stairs and install a helix!

LOL  Great idea!  I actually tried to figure out how to fit in a helix for trains at one time, I think I would need more room than for O gauge trains!  Maybe I could install it outside and have a door on each level for getting back in!

Just went back a saw the date......

I was a bit confused when you posted what you just bought at a train show yesterday too. It all makes sense now.

I think we will all agree that 2020 was a stinker. As the old song says..."Happy Days are Here Again"

Best wishes for a speedy recovery!  I'm glad you decided to join the forum as I enjoy your posts- congrats on 2 years!

About 10 years ago I was in the hospital for some unexpected surgery and on my first walk around the hospital floor the day after surgery I came across a sitting room for patients which happened to have a computer. I navigated to the forum for some much needed distraction and ended up making a post.  In addition to the many nice responses, two forumites actually tracked down my room number and were kind enough to call!  My point is that there are great folks on this forum and it's value goes far beyond trains.

Happy Anniversary Lionelski John, thank you for sharing about your recent incident, and as you see, your friends here on the OGR Forum are wishing you a speedy recovery. Your layout is Amazing, fun to view. You have friends all over the country that I’m sure are also praying for you as well.  We here in Tennessee will be looking forward to your getting well.
