Is it open to the public also?  I'm hoping to be in MA that weekend but if I'm not I've told a few friends in the area about your exceptional layout and they would really enjoy the opportunity.

Bill this one is not open to the general public; however, if you are in the area and they accompany you I think they will be admitted...

Marty of course, I'm just waiting for my "supervisor" to let me know what my travel plans are :-) 

BTW I just bought another Premier Proto 2 Empire Express Hudson cannot wait to "play" with it.

I think you'll all appreciate the layout; it was quite an effort segmenting it all, moving it from Melrose to Wilmington and reassembling it there...

The guys are working to make this Open House great for everyone...

I will do that...  Our website is back up and there are some pictures there that you can look at...  some show an activity we did at last year's Wilmington 4th of July celebration...  We'll be there again this year... there are some other photos of the layout prior to reassembly at the new site and some other photos as well...

Lionelbill, when I said "darn, I just missed it" I meant I had been in Boston at the wrong time. I was there over Memorial Day weekend. I'm in MD, and will not be able to get back up to get to it on June 9. I do hope someone takes photos, though.

If any forum member is in the process of building a layout, I strongly suggest they observe this layout in progress.  This layout is classic Lynn Westcott L-Girder benchwork taken to a higher level.  Go see the layout, have some fun and learn how to do it right.

Marty you are so right.  The bench work is very impressive, as is the trackwork and wiring. LOL My wife kept asking me. "what are you looking at," since I wasn't focusing all of my attention on the trains that were running.

I am going to be the Trainmaster for tomorrow... But I'll also bring my camera for pics; hope I have time to take pictures!  But we're covered on that front; some other members are set to be photographers...

 

I thank Marty for the comments about the benchwork...  It has been constructed really well... Another feature you might notice is that all the curves are banked and transition spirals are used to match the straight track to the curve track...  we followed the method given by John Armstrong in his book... I think the trains look very good going through the curves...  Most curves are O96; minimum radius is O72...

Jim, You are correct about the track.  When I was there, I was blown away with the benchwork.  Being an L-Girder guy and a student of the Lynn Westcott book, it was great to observe.  Anyone who is going to build can go home with a lot of information.
