In Memphis we are fortunate to have a local business that has made its unfinished second floor available to the model railroad clubs in this area. The Casey Jones High Railers, the the local HO group, N scale group, and the Garden railroad (G scale) group all have thier layouts set up this facility. Today we had an open house for family and friends to come out and see the various layout. Here are a few pictures.

I ran my Lionel Legacy IC Berkshire.

Here are some very special cars various friends have painted and lettered for me, and a loads I have built.

IC side door caboose - a friend kit bashed the caboose and painted it. I applied the lettering. My decal skills were never very good, especially when compares to the next two photos.

This was the first event I was able to take my IC and TC single sheathed box cars to. A friend painted and lettered these cars for me. He cut each letter and spelled out the road names of both box cars.

I built this load on a Lionel PS 4 flat car.

And here is one of the O Scale tank cars I picked up at the Chicago O scale show back in April.

Frank and Fritz at the controls of our Ron Williams memorial layout. This is the layout we take to most of our local train shows these days. The CJHR layout has grown in size and  is difficult to move  for a bunch of old guys like us. This layout was built in memory of one of our local TCA members who passed away a few years back.

It is away great tho have families out to see the layouts. We also let kids run the trains every chance we get.

The HO layout, an example of some fine model railroading craftsmanship.

The N scale layout - a real technical marvel. This layout models the L&N RR from Memphis to southern Kentucky.  The layout is ran like a real railroad - dispatchers train orders and yards masters working the various yards. They ware the headsets and  all train movements are monitored on a panel with three computer screens. The pictures  here do not come close to doing just to the layout. And of course, the layout is ran on a fast clock. I am told that there is 69 scale miles of tack on this layout.

I forgot to take pictures of the S scale layout and Z scale layout, but as you can see all major scales are represented  at this facility.

Thanks for looking at the pictures.

Richard, we do, along with theatric lighting, which is supposedly being programmed for us to highlight certain aspects of each clubs layout. I am very grateful for this club, my last home town had ONLY HO, so I was without for a long time.

There are also work rooms with storage and workbenches. I run my trains there while building my home layout, another week or two and my shelf should be operational, then a few trains can run as I piddle on the lower layout trying to get it done by Christmas.
