Open up K-Line Aluminum Passenger Cars

I have the K-Line 18" aluminum cars, and if I remember correctly both vestibule ends have to be unscrewed and removed before the interior slides out. There should be a plug at one end of the car to disconnect the wires going to the overhead lighting.

You have to be careful with the trucks in that the don't scratch the inside of the aluminum shell when pulling out the floors.

  You might have to pull the body slightly apart while pulling out the interior, also make sure the trucks are perfectly straight when pulling out the interior.

Once the ends come off, the shell slides right off. The interior stays attached to the floor. Should be just the 4 screws that hold it together. The trucks are a tight fit so you kinda have to spread the shell with your hand to get the trucks to slide through.

Combination of a few things.  There are 2 little screws that are under the plastic underbody insert.  Those 2 screws connect the inside plastic insert to the metal underframe.  Once I got those off and then pulled apart slightly it slide right off.  Much better now have people seated than hanging by the wires in the ceiling. 

Oh yeah, I forgot about those. The under frame detail has 1 or 2 screws depending on when it was made. If it only has 1 screw, then the other end slides into a notch in the metal frame. Been awhile since I had them apart.
