The blue modules have the update code on them.  They are not writable modules, so once you use them, they're basically trash.  My mod makes then into writable modules so you can use them to update over and over again.  I took all of mine and made them into black modules, not I have like seven black modules, a lifetime supply.

 

Note that so far only the blue modules work for this change, the white and orange modules only have a single EEPROM chip and so not enough memory to create a black module replacement.  Also, you probably want to keep those anyway as they have continuing value.

Just my opinion of course, but if its not broke why fix it? Give yourself a chance to get familiar with the system for a while and then do an upgrade if you choose to.1.4 isn't really "old" and its the software offered in the newest systems.When 1.5 was first released  folks jumped at the chance to do the upgrade only to find there was a software problem. Its corrected now, but depending on what locomotives your running, there may be little if any gain with 1.5, besides, before long I'm sure will have a 1.6,1.7,......etc.
