 Hello everyone,

I've noticed in the past and present many forum members having trouble opening up a Lionel 18 inch Aluminum passenger car, the biggest complaint is they can't slide the trucks past the side skirts. I'm not sure if this has been explained in the past, but here's a solution that makes it much easier.

When trying to slide the chassis out the brake cylinders hit the side skirts, if you don't know already the brake cylinders are removable. But you must exercise great care when doing this. See pictures and explanation below. Once the brake cylinders are removed its very simple to slide out the chassis from the car.

WILL UPLOAD PHOTOS SHORTLY

Thanks, Alex

OPPOSITE SIDE OF BRAKE CYLINDER, TAKE NOTICE THERE'S A RECTANGLE  POINT WHERE IT WILL FIT BACK ONTO THE TRUCK.

Alex M - Thanks for your photos and believe me when I say I found them very helpful recently.  The detail on these cars is great but they can be a PITA when it becomes either necessary or desirable to take them apart.

Lastly, although your Post is 5 years old (Geez time flies when you get old) I think it will still be very helpful to many newer Forum members.
