Hi everyone. I have Lionel's 2012 Milwaukee Road F7 ABBA engines. One of the B units is powered and has a remote coupler on one end and a fixed coupler on the other. When running this multiple unit set-up, the remote controlled coupler on the powered B unit will decide to open all by itself.

I ordered a remote and a fixed coupler from Lionel's parts department and they should be getting here soon. My question is: Since this ABBA set-up will be a permanent fixture, would you replace the remote coupler with the new remote or put the fixed one on it? I would appreciate you giving me your choice and why you would choose it. I thank all of you in advance for your replies.

Paul, before you replace the remote coupler on the B-unit with a fixed one, simply try disconnecting the wires to it. If the coupler is firing because of electrical noise, that will fix it. The other known fix for this problem, without disabling the coupler, is to install a 1 microfarad non-polarized capacitor across the leads to the coupler.
