Operating or Non-Operating Coupler?

Your idea of fixed couplers seems logical, being that our expensive toys develop glitches every now and then.

Once the problem op. coupler is replaced with another op. coupler, it is unknown when the replacement will act up!

Your idea is a permanent solution.

If I know that the B unit will always be between two other locomotives, I'd put a fixed coupler on it.  Or at least a manual coupler.

I kinda like fixed couplers. I like to set trains running and sit back and watch. Many older Williams locos and cars had fixed couplers and that's just fine with me.

On yours....fixed on both ends of a B unit for sure.

Paul, before you replace the remote coupler on the B-unit with a fixed one, simply try disconnecting the wires to it. If the coupler is firing because of electrical noise, that will fix it. The other known fix for this problem, without disabling the coupler, is to install a 1 microfarad non-polarized capacitor across the leads to the coupler.
