Operating Two K Line Alco bi modal A units together

i have a bimodal K Line alco A unit ( plug and receptacle in the rear). It is difficult finding a matching trailing unit for the bi modal one. I did find an identical bimodal A unit. I would like to purchase it even though the numbers are the same. Question is: will the two Bi modal units work if they are plugged together? The K Line instructions on the A unit I have do not address thi possibility.

Believe the answer no if units are truly bi-modal; and yes if at least one is tri-modal
