I've been 2-railing MTH 72-foot Center Beam flat cars. It occurred to me that they also carry lumber loads on 62-foot bulkhead flats. The thing is that 62 isn't a clean multiple of 8 so I needed some input on the following load out options for the Atlas 62-foot Bulkhead Flat with 8-foot lumber loads.
Option A -- Staggered. I've seen cars loaded this way. The load is balanced laterally. Strapping it down might be interesting.
Option B -- Ends Only. This gives an even distribution, but doesn't take advantage of the capacity of the car (and doesn't look as interesting). I've also seen them done this way. The advantage here is that the car doesn't gain as much weight.
Opinions?
Thanks.
