Seems like the universal remote goes through batteries rather quickly.
Any suggestions?

Right.. I never liked using the charging feature of the CAB-2 base. Batteries seem to last a long time in the CAB-1 series of remotes anyway.
If you figure the rating of AAA cells at 1200 MAH (milliamp hours), and my measurement of the Universal Remote shows me it's consuming a maximum of less than 10MA, that gives you at least 120 hours of runtime.

Excellent observation! I have had my Universal Remote for almost two years and have never changed the batteries.

5 years on my cab 2. Original batteries. I kill the charging when shutdown. Run some DCS or putz a bit while charging. If low, leave on overnight.
