You might consider putting the speaker in the boiler.  It sounds so much more realistic having the sound come from the engine rather than the tender.

I agree, but this assumes there are sufficient places for the sound to emerge from the boiler.

The boiler shell is not airtight.  The sound will get out.

The pilot truck axle is .178 and the square hole it rides in is 5/32" causing derailments. Find a piece of tubing 1/8"ID X 5/32"OD will solve the problem. It did for me. Otherwise a great steam locomotive.

HEY SOO NUT,

How can a 0.178" axle ride in a 0.156 square hole...it won't fit!

Also, how can you slip a piece of tubing that is 0.125 ID over an axle that is 0.178 OD? Is it rubber tubing?

Then how much bigger in diameter will that make the pilot truck axle?

I second placing the speaker in the boiler; the nose pops off easily and you will have better sound quality; not to mention wiring will be easier.

As it is written, so shall it be done!
