You probably know all about this, however, on the off chance that you don't, here goes...

While looking for something completely unrelated, a car in an IRM lineup caught my eye, a Burlington RPO, No. 1923.   If this car is a sister to yours, it might be useful having a living example to work from:

Tad Daito's Low-D trucks.

Sorry Santiago, couldn't resist!

I think the layout's grade and the large quantity of nuts is unfair to compare to these. I think the Low-D do roll better?

I am a huge fan of real bearings inside. I feel we abuse our engines, asking them to do more than we believe they're doing. I'd love to know more about these Low-D trucks. I am making my own for now.

Santiago, do yours have real bearings?

No, Joe. No bearings

Joe,     I had NO intention of being fair.....I just wanted to kid Santiago a bit. To be fair you would have to push them with the same force on an identical grade. That said, Tad's demo was impressive. There is NO way I can kid Santiago about his work.....it is top notch!

Thanks for your answer Santiago! The numbers and color mix for the Revell colors would be much appreciated.

Thank you Santiago! This took my CB&Q modelling project a big step forward. Now I have to find the right blend of the colors. =^_^=

The long wait for the CB&Q E5A & E5B is soon over. Invoice arrived from Sunset.

Happy to help, sir. What are you working on? Yeah, those E5 will be a true gift!

Thank you so much for your help Santiago. Inspired by Burlington Bulletin 42 "Exposition Flyer" and the builds of CB&Q equipment of yours .I started with a "budget" version of a XM-32 box car with Allied full Cushion Trucks. The body is from an Intermountain kit and the truck's were built from an old white metal kit.

The truck's kit was a real hassle to build. First I removed all flash from the castings, and then straighten the parts out. When I dry fitted them they didn't add upp correctly. So after some filing and trimming I ended up with a decent result. I added axle bushings in brass and a pair of NWSL wheels.

The intermountain body was built straight out of the box with added details and a scratch built coupler pocket. Intermountain kit's tend's to be a bit fiddly to build, but with added weight and metal wheels they can turn out as really fine models.

Then the main issue the color. I tried different colors Tamiya, Humbrol and a Vallejo. I tried black primers and gray as base colors and it never turned up to my satisfaction. Since I'm based in Europe some of the American colors is hard to obtain. I ordered the Revell colors and diluent, so after the Easter holiday I will try to get an appropriate mix of the colors.

The second picture is an early try to modelling CB&Q rolling equipment. The BA-15 standard steel baggage car. Started out as a K-Line undecorated 3-rail baggage car. I changed out the doors and scratch built new more prototypical ones in plastic card. I added lot's of handrails and details. The trucks are old Walthers with NWSL wheels. The decals is from Walthers and MicroScale and they differ. The color of the body is to light. Tamiya "Dark olive".

I ordered decals from Protocraft and Clover House and will try to get the color right before decaling and further ventures in to more CB&Q rolling equipment.

Thank you so much for sharing your builds and progress Santiago!
