Hey there! Yesterday we took a trip to the Wanamaker, Kempton and Southern (one of our family's favorite railroads) for their 50th Anniversary celebration, and we had a great time! There was a small area with a couple dealers selling things, as well as setups from Norfolk Southern and the Reading Technical and Historical Society among others.
Despite the spotty showers, it was a nice day for the ride, always a great way to relax!
Here are some photos I took, all using various styles through my phone's camera.
Here is the GE 65-Ton switcher, which has been used for the trips now, as it's pulling in for passengers for the first run at 1pm:
On the one siding, they have two really nice diesel switchers, both ex-US Army. This shot has both in one:
Here is a closer shot of the first Army switcher, which was later used at a steel plant in PA:
This is a Whitcomb switcher, also ex-Army. This one is one of my father's favorites:
But the real surprise was to see back under steam the #65, a Porter 0-6-0. She's been out of service, and the official story is that she's being inspected and evaluated for return to service. This first photo I took to look as if it were a found Polaroid:
Here she is in the background of a shot I took to look like a long lost period of time, one which I wish I could see more often!
This last one is a shot from the parking lot side of #65, with the semaphore and the stations as part of the photo.
65 ran a little bit, back and forth, and I'm hoping this means she'll be running some scheduled runs soon! Hope you enjoyed these photos!
