I am trying to find a paint match for a gunmetal prewar Lionel 255.  I was advised by maker of collector colors to buy 400 light grey. When I did a sample it looked silver. I tried Train enamels and unable to contact (John) and unable to get a reply anybody know if he is still in business? I have purchased from him before and match was excellent both times. I have also purchased color match from the local Finishmasters  and looked good. I don't have enough paint left to finish this project and Finishmasters will not do color match at this time. Cannot even enter their store at this time.  Have to order on line for premix or auto color code and call for pickup.  Any help?  Roy O

As regards the "Gunmetal" metallac grey. The colors we used initially were matched to original Lionel "MINT" pieces that Lou and Carl Shaw of Madison Hardware Co. gave to me which were "VIRGIN" pieces in  the box that I opened personally. With especially the 'gun metal' color, where your items have been stored and under what light will make a big difference in color. We currently have a #400 light gun metal, and a #265 dark gunmetal. Both can be lightened or darkened w/ our #38 black or #900 silver. Tint to whatever suits you.  Harry
