Paint Color for rock in Wyoming ??

Hey guys. I need your opinions.

For my new layout, I am trying my best to replicate scenery "out west". Specifically around the Denver / Cheyenne area, the front range of the Rockies.

As hard as I try, every attempt comes out looking like the eastern seaboard where I live. I have studied a lot of pics.

Ground cover is not to hard to replicate....light green / yellows and tans.

I am having problem with rock colors. All my techniques result in a gray colored stone which is prevelant around here. I am thinking "tans"??
