Paint for Lionel Reading Diesel

How picky are you?  For minor chips, I use a black magic marker.  After it dries for a few seconds, I rub the spot with a wet finger, takes the purple shine off it.  Many times, you can't find the touchup.

 

If you're doing larger sections, that's a different matter...

 

Maybe some Testers model paint in black will work. For the green, if it is true Reading green, it might be hard to match up. Not sure as I have not tried to match up any Lionel paint before on any Reading engines or freight cars.

Have you checked with Henning's Trains Tel: (215) 362-2442 about their Collector Color paint line?

On my layout • For just doing touch ups, I use "Americana Acrylic Paints" sold at the big box art stores for about .99¢ - you can make any color you need for touch up work.

For minor touch ups, I use Testor's Flay Black paint pen.

For larger areas, I bring the unit to my local auto paint store and have them mix me a custom blend, with the correct sheen.  If I need touch up, they'll make me one and if I need a spray can, they do that as well.
