My side project is a SG 390E with many battle scars. My plans are to preserve/restore and make it a runner, not a show-piece.
There are areas of excellent paint, no paint, and some removed-rust areas. I'd like to keep as much original paint as I can, and keep a complete strip as last resort. After touch-up, what are your favorite methods for blending finishes? I'm thinking along the line of rubbing compound and cleaning polish after the paint has dried thoroughly, but this is new territory for me. All thoughts appreciated.
