I have no experience doing this so I'm looking for some help. I have 6 K-line tank cars that are on the shinny side, can I spray them matte clear coat to dull the finish without doing anything else. I also had some cars painted silver & decals applied but they didn't have a clear coat applied. What clear coating should I apply to these? Thanks in advance.

Yes you can. Quick and easy, spray can of Testors Dull-Cote. Any clear spray from your home improvement store will work too. Works a bit better if you heat the spray can in a bowl of warm water. Not too close, thin even coats.
You can also air brush bottled Dull-Cote thinned with Laquer Thinner 50/50, if you have the equipment already.
