Very cool! How long do the carbon contact shoes last at this extremely high speeds?
I think that's what's being determined here. I am not sure if they are testing different shoe materials to determine durability, etc. I never did get to see this run in person so it was cool to see this was posted to our Youtube channel. I wish I could do more rail stuff, but it's mostly automotive and materials testing where I'm at.
Doing industrial HVAC/mechanical, and working in fabrication shops. I got to be part of some of the "coolest" "toys" ever built, and/or working at endless shifts of endurance tests.
This would sure be something Id like to see in person too. Thanks for the post.
(When does it hit "the cold/wet box"? Thats where "everything" dies)
Not to be a party pooper , cause that thing is tits, what's the OSHA safety regs. for something like that? Cause it could serve alternative purposes in my devious brain.
Being a pan guy (model) that was very cool to watch. I have all the electric engines going through my neighborhood all day and I never get tired watching. Thank you for posting this.
Cool!
does the weather condition will be part of the test as well?
Andre.
Andre, not with this setup as shown in the video. Some sort of chamber would have to built around the specimen to allow for environmental inputs.
Very cool testing procedures.
