I picked one of these at a show a while back for a token sum as one of the couplers and the pilot was broken and on the same truck the wheels would turn but then stop, while the other motor truck turned as you would expect. I put it on the track, and it went about 6 inches and then shorted. I haven't opened it but my guess is that the truck is bad.

Lionel's new and improved website seems to be less user friendly than the previous one. Does anyone have any documents on this or the part number for the truck (complete).

You might want to try typing in SKU 21230400001, that will give you an exploded part diagram for a GP-38. Not conventional but trucks should be the same.

Hmm.. I don't know that this LC truck will really be suitable for a 2004 locomotive.

Can we see pictures of the problem truck?

Well, it actually does have the truck mounted motors, so that Lionchief power truck may indeed work.

Yeah but now that it is shorting out, I no longer suspect mechanical damage. Got to take a closer look.
