I am looking for where I can buy these screws. They are for the collector truck on my 6017 caboose. The old trucks were held on with a U type clip. The screws I need aren't available from Lionel where I bought the new truck. Any help out there?

ace hardware sells all kinds of screws metric n sae threads. do you have an ACE hardware store near you!??

No. The closest ACE hardware is about 40 miles away. I wrote to the guy above and am waiting for a reply.

This vendor has Phillips Round Washer Head screws, but in Imperial sizes. Call them and ask if they have the metric size you need, or can get it for you.

I have a couple of 2.6 x 5 mm screws. I don't know the pitch and they have a little larger head but not sure you would call them a washer head. If you would like to try one and see if it works for you, send me an email..info is in profile and I can mail you a few.
If after the replies you got and still looking, I have some washer head screws the size you need. These are from MTH, their P/N IA-0000091.
The 6017 was made in 1951-62. No metric screws. Most were 6-32 or 4-40. Can you post a photo of teh specific location ? I could look at one of my cars and see exactly what you need.
