OK, so what does everyone use?  Do you only buy cars that come with molded interiors, or do you also buy cars with no interiors that you have to make?

What do you use for things like beds/couches, tables, lamps?  I have chairs from Precision Scale and Keil Line, and some tables from PSC, but things like beds are nowhere to be found.

Just how much detail (ala what Dreyfuss did with his diner) do you put in your passenger cars?

I remember using a piece of house corner molding to make a bed once, but I'm looking for something a bit more prototypical.

Delta lines just produced a catalog and update he has resin cast interior pieces mostly streamline. I had to learn to make molds from vintage and then cast from resin been a learning curve. Keil line has some stuff, google 1/4 scale doll house furniture pricey. and last but not least adapt improvise and do whatever floats your boat and looks good to you. However if you ask nicely some folks on this forum will help you out from time to time. Mostly I keep on buying junk lots and will find parts that can be made by me.get lucky once in a while. Good luck and lets foster more shareing of info

There's a book out called "Cars Of Pullman" by Joe Walsh, Bill Howes, and Kevin Holland that might be worth getting (they have a Kindle version too).

I tried to get these guys to see about making some O-scale stuff:

But they said they had their hands full with HO at the moment.  Maybe if enough of us bombard them with requests they'll reconsider.

Take a look at their HO catalog, if we had something like this we'd be all set.  the catalog alone provides some mighty fine reference material.  I'd like to have an O-scale water cooler or 2

red cap rocks but as we allknow the only scale is O scale, to quote a fool. I've ordered some stuff just recently from delta models 2 days ago so will see what and how nice they are soon enough, pictures look good in there catalog only time will tell. As stated elsewhere  I like to buy junk and reuse ,reshop to better, so heres pics

I would sell you mine, but I like them too much.

You might be onto something.  Of course I'd have to sell what I have for less than 50% of what I paid for them (including shipping).  The only thing I can see is this would save me from having to to a lot of work modifying a car, IF there was one available that I wanted.  If one is not available that I want, then this seems like the only way to get what I want.

If GGD would come out with an announcement they are taking orders for a 5-car SAL Silver Meteor set then I'd stop what I'm doing and start saving $$$

On my K line cars I winged it and fixed interiors with detail even though they weren't proto. With the Sunset cars I already have proto interior layouts. I then go about detail surfaces and fixtures. Currently working on 48 Century cars. The kitchen is done and now have started the diner. This one is tough because although the arrangement is proto, the fixtures are not. Tables are lower the seats (an obvious goof), so I am remaking those. Each car is a big job because I am also adding coupler lift brackets (scratch built), barco steam pipes, steam lines, safety chains and hooks, AC screens (scratch), new batt boxes and of course scale couplers.

Sounds like you've got another fine passenger car in the works

I'm slowly populating my Seaboard Sun-Lounge car.  I made some "carpet" using June Tailor Fabric sheets you can run thru a printer and found a pattern online that resembles the seashore motif depicted on the actual Sun-lounge cars.

I wish I had better peeps to put inside.  I have the sun lounge end completed with chairs, tables, bar, writing desk, and people, but haven't started on the rooms yet.

The way the OK Engines cars are made permits the bottom to be slide in and out of the car (on rails), so I can actually finish the outside of the car and still work on the inside easily.  I may have to follow your lead and place a few drinking glasses around and maybe a newspaper or magazine.  So far I haven't found any decent beds to use in the rooms and have no plans to install lighting.

Yup. Walthers castings - they used to have quite a selection of sets of interiors for all sorts of their pass car kits.  Made them nice and heavy, too......

They all moved to Keil-Line and I think you can still get then in metal or maybe plastic now.

Frequently flurries of them on eBay and also seen at swap meets & shows.

Finally got a break from slinging crete and finished interiors and decals on last 2 p70 ebay reshops. All I need to finish is windows and curtains anybody got any Ideas on good looking window treatments, I only need 80. I'm using .010 polycarbonate for window strip one piece nice and easy .    Thanks  MWB for the info on Nortcentral supply great monitor roof blanks reasonable now I can finish 28seat 1 drawing room parlor car Eaton.    Thanks to PRRMAN for color scheme info I would have never guessed that green on green with brown could look sooo good, also would you know if the PRR parlor car Eaton had a barber in the mens lounge? the original car as purchased had one but have been unsuccessful at confirming this. thanks again to all for info and help. Westport model works best and lightest parlor car chairs ever and very reasonable.

If you have plans and drawings available for his builder to use let Scott know.  You never know.

I think the extrusion for those cars is unique so it would require a lot more sets.  If it is a standard Pullman, Budd or ACF fluted body then it becomes a little easier.

Those I have...it's the funds that just aren't there at the moment

The ACL-SAL Historical Society quarterly magazine "Lines South" has floor plans of each car in one of the issues, plus numerous other articles on the Silver Meteor.  I have all the issues so getting them to Scott would not be an issue.  These plans also show window locations, which to me are the most critical area when doing an accurate model of a "named" train.

I also have a number of books on Seaboard's passenger trains which may hold valuable data describing the interiors of these cars, plus the historical society members have additional data which would be easy to obtain.

Since my last post, has anyone seen any signs of the Delta Lines website?  I did a search and came up empty.

Bobby,

I've been looking at my MTH cars lately trying to figure out how to make a full length car out of 2.  I have 3 MTH cars, but the full-length dome car painted for Seaboard is the only one that I'd really like to do something about being they never owned any.

I could reuse the trucks, diaphragms, and even the interior by cutting it into separate pieces, the body shell is the only part that I can't seem to find a use for.  It's a shame MTH doesn't make them with removable/interchangeable roofs.
