Wooden Oil Tanker for Yard

Build a little winery model and put the wooden tank next to that. I think it would look real good.

Thanks Al, but not too many wineries near the New Haven line. I do not have much real estate for a winery.

That's not an oil tanker.

That's a model of the Hinckley and Schmidt water tank car that they used for transporting spring water!!! Building it was back in the '50s - one of the series of Dollar car builds by Eric(?) Stevens.

I've built at least 6 of them.  Hinckley and Schmidt decals are also available for it from Great Decals who has asked me to consider putting into production as a kit. 

That's a nice prize (mild drooling....) and I'd love to see the rest of the stuff!!!

There were also wooden flat cars, a stock car or two, some long metal passenger cars and other two rail kit items for two rail. There was at least one Athearn box car and and some, I believe  All American reefers or box car and an unbuilt station. 

Also a bunch of older three rail cars in boxes and many Pasticville in their  packages or boxes. I was able to get six unopened #1403 Pasticville signal bridges.

You could certainly use it for that purpose, but I'd personally want to finish the build, add the barrel bands, side walkways, grab irons, etc., put the decals on it, and run it on my layout.....................and you have mail.

If donated to our club they would go right into the display area or a showcase in the store area.  Great looking piece. I to would be interested in seeing a couple more pix, thanks for posting.  Russ

Sorry, I read further and answered my question.  

Did this model have metal hoops ????  Wood stave tanks or (silos) usually had a hoop retaining system.  Appears to be some nice detail for that vintage and wood. Handrails, ladder, plumbing, brake detail/brake hand wheel if not part of the kit could all be added with brass parts.  It even appears to be red wood or cedar, commonly used for water tanks. IMO.   Save the wooden tank look.

Here are more. The boxes that are 2 rail kits have wood pieces, printed directions, attachments  some have trucks, others do not. There is a box of 24 two rail atlas track (048),12 Atlas 2 rail straights, and a pair of Atlas turnouts #6021 and 6022. Also 072 2-rail turnout kits.There are four Athearn 2 rail cars, five 2 rail All nation cars, five Lionel MPC  three rail, a bag of vintage three rail trucks, some metal steam drivers that look like 700E wheels, and an Al Nation frame and trucks with motor that goes to a SW switcher.
