Pasting something into a message

1. Highlight the text you want to copy.
2. Press <CNTRL-C> to COPY the text to the clipboard.
3. Go to the post where you want to paste the text.
4. Place your cursor where you want the text to appear.
5. Press <CNRTL-V> to paste the text into the post.

If you want to paste in an image, you can usually right-click on the image and choose COPY. Then place the cursor where you want the image and press <CNRTL-V> to paste it in.

Done.

Rich, thanks for the instructions.  I did that just testing the five steps.   I noticed it replicated 8 times with 1 to 40 sequence numbers???

I used my response to "who have pools on their layout?"  to test the steps.

I have no idea what you mean by "...replicated 8 times with 1 to 40 sequence numbers..." I need a link the post to see what you're talking about.

Copy and paste is pretty basic stuff. I use it every day.

I too do it almost daily.  Never had it repeat it's self multiple times.  

I just did it again and this time it only repeated it's self 3 times.  1 to 15.  Last time it was 1 to 40.

Must be getting better???

Just copied and pasted above from Tom T on a Mac. (Then I went back and added quotation marks and italicized) On Mac it's Command C and Command V. In case you are a complete novice, to highlight put cursor at beginning, press mouse or touch pad and hold while you drag to end of what you want to copy. Then release. It will be highlighted (blue for me). Then Command V (on Mac)

Why it repeated for Tom T is beyond me. Possibly a sticky key?

I still don't understand what you mean by it "repeated" itself multiple times. The only way anything would paste into a post more than once is if you told it to.

Next time, instead of using the keyboard and pressing <CNRTL-V> to paste, right click and choose PASTE from the menu there. You may have a keyboard problem.

Humm....that is the way I have always cut and pasted. 

Well not really.  Coming from a publishing family,  fifty years ago we literally cut newly typed corrections and then pasted the word(s) or sentence over the incorrect text while proof reading new books.  I bet many folks do not know of the source of "cut and paste".  Some of my pages were a tad weighty .   Sister did not get paid for replacement pages and I only got paid for each cut and paste.

Never used <CNRTL-V>.

Just got all new Lenovo touch screen computers.  Maybe I should have the keyboard checked out??

Added:  What could be the source of the 1 to 15 numbering and the 1 to 40 numbering on the first one?

There were a couple previous discussions here, here or here and mentioned here- we discovered that with browsers such as Edge and certain websites, the forum software/ browser strictly enforces CTRL+V, you can not right click to paste. A dialog box informs you of this fact if you try it.
