Not sure why this is happening.
Bell sounds on and off with no button press, but only in reverse.
Anyone else ever have this problem?
Thanks,
John

First, what model/brand is this?
What transformer is powering?
Second, sounds like conventional operation, and thus depending on your transformer, load, track, and other interactions, it's not exactly hard to get a form of DC offset on the track that is sensed by a sound module as signal for conventional bell.

Model: Williams by Bachmann Peter Witt Streetcar.

84 Watt Transformer: MRC Throttlepack 00013011
Conventional operation on Fastrack
Previously ran fine on this setup. Now rings on it's own.
Thanks,
John
John,
Start with something simple. The transformer may be responsible for this. As a result try reversing the power leads, either at the transformer or at the track.
If this streetcar has a horn it might now activate continuously like the bell did before the switch. If it doesn't have a horn you may now be golden.
Whether the horn blows or doesn't, at least the bell should stop.

maybe it’s supposed to ring when in reverse. JohnA
Follow-up:
Thanks guys. I ended up cleaning the track and then oiled the pickup rollers and axles with CRC 2-26 (which is a conductive lube). The problem went away.
I also tried it with a Z-1000 transformer which worked much better (operationally).
The streetcar only has a bell (like a streetcar.......'ding-ding') It sounds whether or not you press the horn button or the bell button, but not always consistently. I added LEDs and people to the inside, but I can't imagine that would cause a problem. As I said, this is (was) recent.
Kind of think the low power MRC transformer may have been the problem. That transformer also has a strange "boost" button. Without the boost button depressed, the transformer is really weak so it is always on. The transformer works for most conventional engines I have tried it with. And it works for command controlled LC engines with the throttle turned all the way up.
