I have a transformer that is out of phase with the other, how do I determine which one is wrong ? MTH Z1000 and Lionel 180 brick.

Well, neither one is truly "wrong" as a rule. They just have to be in phase, but the "polarity" of the signal isn't significant.
thank you John...........I figured out what I did wrong, years ago I wired the 180 conversion wire coupler wrong, I'm trying to track down weak DCS signal so I put another TIU in the mix on the far side of the layout (30' run of wire) with its own power supply thats when I noticed. I wonder does Phase matter with DCS signal ?

The phasing of the transformer(s) going into the TIU is not significant as long as they're all phased together. The output of the TIU IS important, red lug to the center rail.
